Internationally acclaimed photographic artist Sheryl Long of Tintern is embarking on a project of cultural significance which aims to document the children of Monmouthshire in her unique “interpretive” style.
The year long project will see multi award winning location photography expert
Sheryl using unusual and iconic features of our landscape to produce a limited
edition coffee table book of our county invoking the essence and spirit of children
between the ages of 3 to 17 culminating in an exhibition of work. Sheryl is no
stranger to the world of publishing . Her work has featured in photo plus magazine,
digital camera magazine, and, the make a wish foundation uk are currently using her
images on their website and social media pages.
As a parent of a child living in Monmouthshire, You are invited to put your child or children forward to be considered for this exciting project.
Sheryl would love to hear from anyone who may be able to lend or suggest an interesting location – “I’ve got a lot of places in mind, but I’m sure someone, somewhere in the county, has a mill wheel or a windmill, jetty, north facing barn or disused classic car or tractor – that would make the perfect backdrop for a featured child to be photographed against … I will of course feature all the usual suspects – castles and abbeys etc, but I’m particularly interested in not-so-often seen locations. If you’ve got a favourite let me know!”
For your child to be considered you must be a full time resident in the county and your child or children must be between 3 and 17 years old.
Families of the children who make it into the book will receive a orint credit to put towards any of the fabulous images made during their shoot (without obligation to buy) and a discounted cover price on a signed copy of the limited edition hardback art book entitled ‘through our eyes- the children of monmouthshire’ with the remainder copies seen on sale at local bookshops across the county.
